103. Indian Ocean!

The cyclone season in the South Pacific ended a little over a month ago, allowing me to head back to the tropics. I have since then left Brisbane, sailed all along the Great Barrier Reef, around the northern tip of Australia and through the Torres Strait between Australia and Papua New Guinea. In the process I also left the Pacific behind and entered the Indian Ocean. And in a couple of days I will be in Darwin to pick up my buddy Mike and sail to Lombok in Indonesia where his family will be waiting on their boat Picasso. A new country and a new continent. How cool is that? I can’t wait. In the meantime though, here are some pictures from my sail up the Queensland coast.

View from the restaurant in Brisbane
Frasier Island. The world’s largest sand island
Rented 4x4s for a day with three other Swedish boats
The crews of Matilda, Platon and Rara
Dingo
Lots of wildlife
Some wildlife you could do without. I saw stingers in the water but no saltwater crocodiles yet.
I ended up getting a professional diver to clean the bottom of Saoirse. The best spent AUD 220 ever.
Hiking Cook’s Lookout on Lizard Island
A little higher up. This was a tough hike
At the top
Another hike. To Cape York with the Australian crew from Kokomo V. Spot the bullet holes in the sign
New ocean, new flag
The old flag lasted two oceans

  1. Hej Thomas!

Kram. Tomas
